Genesi geometrica delle volte centriche
1996
A continuum based fem model for friction stir welding—model development
2006
Although friction stir welding (FSW) has been successfully used to join materials that are difficult-to-weld or unweldeable by fusion welding methods, it is still in its early development stage and, therefore, a scientific knowledge based predictive model is of significant help for thorough understanding of FSW process. In this paper, a continuum based FEM model for friction stir welding process is proposed, that is 3D Lagrangian implicit, coupled, rigid-viscoplastic. This model is calibrated by comparing with experimental results of force and temperature distribution, then is used to investigate the distribution of temperature and strain in heat affect zone and the weld nugget. The model c…
Il Paradigma della Città Fluida
2013

2021
The present work addresses the principles and properties of the complex thought formulated by the French thinker Edgar Morin and the way in which he was able me to articulate his conception of organizational complexity with one of the most important theories of musical analysis, which emerged at the beginning of the 20th century: the schenkerian analysis. It is a review and extension of a few pages of my doctoral thesis, which are intended to pay tribute to who has been, in addition to my teacher, Honorary President of Itamar since its first issue. His teachings and support has always been the engine for my quest for musical organization. On July 21, 2021, Morin celebrated his 100th birthda…
Nucleon and nuclear spin structure functions
1997
Nuclear effects in polarized inelastic electron scattering off polarized $^3He$ and polarized $^2H$ are discussed; in the resonance region, Fermi motion effects are found to be much larger than in deep inelastic scattering. It is shown that improperly describing nuclear dynamics would lead to the extraction of unreliable neutron spin structure functions; on the other hand side, simple and workable equations, relating the Gerasimov -- Drell -- Hearn Integral for the neutron to the corresponding quantity for $^3He$ and $^2H$, are proposed. Nuclear effects in the recent E143 data are estimated by a proper procedure.
Pion induced pion production on deuterium: A Quasifree process
1992
Abstract A detailed experimental analysis of the π+d → π+π−pp in-plane coincidence data first presented by Rui et al. is compared to an expanded version of the Oset and Vicente-Vacas model for pion-induced pion production on a free nucleon. This extended model averages over Fermi motion to describe the assumed quasifree nature of the process occurring on the deuteron and includes nine additional diagrams to account for the N ∗ → N (ππ) p-wave reaction channels. Experimental effects such as pion energy loss in the target and in the detectors, pion decay and muon detection are investigated and incorporated into the comparison of experimental data and theory. Inclusion of Fermi motion was foun…
Interaction-free evolution in the presence of time-dependent Hamiltonians
2015
The generalization of the concept of interaction-free evolutions (IFE) [A. Napoli, {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. A {\bf 89}, 062104 (2014)] to the case of time-dependent Hamiltonians is discussed. It turns out that the time-dependent case allows for much more rich structures of interaction-free states and interaction-free subspaces. The general condition for the occurrence of IFE is found and exploited to analyze specific situations. Several examples are presented, each one associated to a class of Hamiltonians with specific features.
Solution of the Lindblad equation in Kraus representation
2006
The so-called Lindblad equation, a typical master equation describing the dissipative quantum dynamics, is shown to be solvable for finite-level systems in a compact form without resort to writing it down as a set of equations among matrix elements. The solution is then naturally given in an operator form, known as the Kraus representation. Following a few simple examples, the general applicability of the method is clarified.
